Rewriting Miorita :::: is anyone busy with this?

We invite organisations / art operators / curators to join in the realization of this project: fundraising, organising, producing etc.

The subject and the starting point is the Romanian old pastoral ballad Miorita, (…) that describes death as a joyful marriage between human and cosmos, a feast at which all nature participates. For the ballad and a translation, please refer to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miorita, http://spiritromanesc.go.ro/Miorita%20-eng.html

Morisena will invite about 4 poets from various countries to re-write Miorita in their own, contemporary language & context, during a collaborative residency at the centre. They should translate their new work into English (or have someone doing it for them via internet). We will take care of the translations form English into Romanian and Hungarian. Perhaps it would be interesting to write a Miorita together in a collaborative process >> that will be figured out together by the poets during the project.

A visual artist will also be invited to create an art installation with the new contemporary poems inspired by Miorita. We will consider using the music produced during TransyMusic as a background for the presentation / exhibition, as a way of creating connections between various Morisena projects and participating artists.

At the end, the booklet will be edited and published with all texts in their original languages, English, Romanian, Hungarian versions.

A launch will be held at Teatru 74 / Teatrul Scena or Teatrul Ariel.  We will look for galleries for the sculpture / art installation that will be produced during the residency.
