TransyInDeeZine ::::  will be planned soon :::

In May 2007 the renovation of the attic and part of the location where morisena holds its activities were designed by Dutch architects Harms Timmermans and Stijn Kemper. The adjustments created an open space with lovely light in the attic, which communicates with the terrace that at its turn is accessible from the courtyard / garden. In June the renovation took place and in July, with a group of hard working artists and volunteers we have decorated – mainly painted walls and doors – the space. Since then, we hosted two art projects, having about twenty international artists working for about a month at the centre.

The current  location offers through its spaces a great functional flexibility that we would like to keep. In order to be able to offer the best funcionality for future activities, we would like to build and buy appropriate furniture, which will allow the space to be used for various purposes: a shared dormitory and a living / working / seminar area - downstairs and the attic as a multifunctional living and working space upstairs. We think of simple, light modules, bookshelves, small cupboards, chairs, desks, banks etc that could be placed in various places and combinations in order to meet specific needs per project. Some small wooden chairs and a setting for the courtyard would be nice to think of too.

We invite three ecology orientated, hands on interior designers to join us in furnishing the centre. We will start the project with a visit to the Ethnographic Musem of Transylvania and the Romulsus Vuia Park. Then we will visit a couple of idyllic villages and the furniture factories in the area, in order to get an idea of the specific traditional Transylvanian style and of the possibilities of execution available. For furnishing, an inventaris of various possible activities will be written. We will see shops for wood, semi fabricates etc for the objects we want to build ourselves. Together we will make the sketches and decide how the centre will be further decorated and furnished so that future visitors will experience a confortable yet simple paradise at morisena.

We will provide lodging and food (vegetarian) during the project. As for other expenses, there will be a budget of about 1000 euros for materials / furniture. The process will be documented with photographs and a short video for our own fun and joy, for the archives of morisena and for the local press.

And we think of a nice party as a way to present our work to friends, collaborators and regular partners at the end of the project!
