TransyNoModeReMode :::: will be planned soon :::

Two ethno & ecology orientated fashion designers will be invited to take part in a unique and collaborative process for the creation of a vestimenary art installation and fashion parade performance inspired by traditional Transylvanian costumes and decorations. We will visit the Ethnographic Museum of Transylvania and go for day trips to idyllic villages in the area to collect inspiration and to buy used clothes / textiles etc .

The traditional costumes of Transylvania – from the Gipsy, Hungarian and Romanian cultures – will be explored and used as inspiration for the collective creation TransyNoModeReMode, inspiring the public to be fashion independent and rather create, exploring and extracting elements from any areas, according to own inspiration and preferences. An important aspect will be the ‘self made’ and the recycling of old clothes, as well conceptually (ethnography) as in terms of materials, in the spirit of de- and recomposing, rethinking and reusing.

Two dancers/performers will be invited to create a Fashion Show – an art performance - that will present the created collection to the local public. The TransyMusic collection will be used as background. An artist from video-art will also be invited to document the process creatively. The video work will be used as projection during the Fashion Show.

Participating artists will have the chance to explore and experience the local culture, to bring diverse elements together and create dialogues culminating a body of work with a clothes collection, an art performance, an artistic video documentation, and a web-based archive.

The Fashion Show will be held at Teatrul Ariel or in one of the Targu Mures based alternative theatres, located inside the middle age fortress of the city, at the end of the residency. The DVD with the documentation of TransyNoModeReMode will be sent to our network of curators / galleries, disseminating the project internationally.

We will provide vegetarian food and lodging during the project. Participants are invited to bring something specific from their own country to be shared in the residency after-party.

Presently, m o r i s e n a centre is financially not self-sufficient. Concerning the project costs, we are currently exploring founding options. Due to the difficulty of attaining such grants, we may need as a collective to cover the expenses ourselves. Thus far we estimate the daily costs to be about 9 euros a day. We will manage the budget as a group and try to keep things simple, low cost and transparent for all.
